« …Mark Stringer, dont tout le corps participe à la

pour une fête académique de Brahms, le chef imprime une dynamique
enjouée qui fait oublier le côté conventionnel de cette œ uvre.
Mais où Mark Stringer se montre le plus exaltant, c’est dans
la symphonie no. 1, “le Printemps” de Schumann. Il donne libre
court à sa pétulance qu’il avait si sagement tue dans
Bartók. Ça respire le grand air, avec un scherzo rustique aux
entournures, le tout entraîné par une irrépressible joie

a “no-error.” He possesses a sustained presence without being excessive.
In the Academic Festival Overture by Brahms, the conductor imparted a sprightly
dynamic without neglecting the conventional aspect of this piece. But where Mark
Stringer showed himself to be most exalted was in the Symphony No. 1, “Spring” by
Schumann. He gave free rein to his impetuosity which he so wisely suppressed
in the Bartók. Here breathed a great spirit, with a scherzo rustic to
the point of awkwardness, the whole animated with an irrepressible joie de
vivre.”
